3 questions lodged at 2026 Air New Zealand hybrid AGM

September 24, 2026

Below is the text of the 3 written questions submitted at the 98 minute Air New Zealand (AIZ) virtual AGM at 2pm Kiwi time (noon AEST) via the MUFG platform on September 24, 2026. See notice of meeting. Voted by proxy for the 2 new directors and against the 2 older directors over lack of remuneration report vote. The proxies were disclosed early in the formal addresses with no protest votes. Was a slow day and slept in until 1pm so only stumbled into the last 10 minutes of this meeting. They only read out 4 of these 14 written questions lodged at 2022 AGM.

Q1. Will we put up a remuneration report resolution next year like is required in Australia, especially given we are listed on the ASX?

Answer: With just 4 director elections on the ballot, the Air NZ AGM could have done with a remuneration report resolution just to provide some debate diversity. The chair Dame Therese Walsh didn't even say why they refuse to offer ASX-style rem voting. Typical Kiwi outfit. Governance backwater! Watch video of exchange via Twitter.

Q2. Which recruitment firm assisted with sourcing new directors Robert McDonald and Campbell Wilson and did either candidate know any of our directors or KMP before engaging with the recruitment process? How many candidates did the full board assess?

Answer: Despite having them all standing nearby in a big brass line-up for the online AGM video shot, Air New Zealand chair Dame Therese Walsh declined to invite the 2 new directors to disclose any pre-recruitment connections to said brass. She wouldn't even name the recruitment firm. Watch video of exchange via Twitter.

Q3. Did the CEO or chair read Alan Joyce's autobiography and the earlier hostile book on Qantas by Australian journalist Joe Aston? Did the problems Qantas got itself into provide any lessons for Air New Zealand and do we run a Qantas-style Chairman's Lounge service for VIPs like Qantas does?

Answer: Lodged this near the end of the meeting and the question wrangler claimed there were no more questions. Were they running a 2 question limit or just didn't want to address the Chairman's Lounge question? They have a history of question censorship after only reading out 4 of these excessive 14 written questions lodged at the 2022 AGM. Watch video of today's meeting close via Twitter.
