Higgins campaign announced outside Rudd strip club

November 16, 2007

Stephen Mayne is standing as an independent candidate against Peter Costello in the seat of Higgins at the 24 November Federal election. His candidacy was announced in this video filmed in front of Scores, the New York strip club which Kevin Rudd can't remember visiting.

There are five key points in Stephen Mayne's platform:

* A better deal for small shareholders, such as making it easier to propose resolutions at AGMs.

* Taking on the bank cartel because Treasurer Costello has done nothing to reign in outrageous fees.

* Tackling Australia's addiction to pokies through Federally controlled measures such as banning ATMs at pokies venues.

* More honest public accounting, such as the Federal Government admitting they still owe $50 billion.

* Campaigning for free speech and highlighting Peter Costello's incredible churlishness in banning Stephen Mayne and www.crikey.com.au from the budget lock-up for the past three years.
