Stephen Mayne - Owner/publisherStephen Mayne is Walkley Award winning former newspaper journalist who founded Australia's best known ezine, www.crikey.com.au, and is now focused on driving greater accountability and transparency across corporate Australia through shareholder activism, whilst still writing for Crikey. As Australia's best known shareholder activist, Stephen is also the nation's most unsuccessful candidate, having run for 40 public company boards and various other bodies that wouldn't have him. He claims to have the world's biggest small share portfolio - almost 700 stocks worth less than $25,000 - which gives him a unique perspective on life as a small shareholder. In May 2011 Stephen was elected to the board of the Australian Shareholders' Association and in November 2008, he was elected as a Manningham City Councillor in Melbourne's eastern suburbs and in October 2012 he was elected to Melbourne City Council where he chairs the Finance and Governance committee and is deputy chair of the Transport Committee, after previously serving as deputy chair of the Planning Committee. Stephen is a regular in the media and did a weekly spot talking business on 774 ABC Melbourne for more than a decade. He has also written for The Drum, The Sunday Age and Fairfax's Businessday.com.au website, as well as appearing regularly on Sky News Business. More information on Stephen is available here.
